START POINT, a headland in the S of Devon; 9½ miles S by W of Dartmouth. A lighthouse was erected on it in 1836; and shows both a revolving light for the open channel, and a fixed-light for inshore. S. bay extends about 7 miles from the headland northward; but makes only a slight incurvature on the coast.
