The village stands near the river Ouse, 2 miles SSE of Shipton r. station, and 4 NW by N of York; and has a post-office under York. The township lies chiefly in Overton parish, and comprises 2,320 acres. Real property, £3,818. Pop., 316. Houses, 64. S. Lodge and Fairfield are chief residences.—The parish comprises only a part of the township with a pop. of 61. The living is a rectory in the diocese of York. Value, £80.* Patron, J.
