SIRHOWY (The), a river in Brecon and Monmouth; rising on Mynydd-Llangynidr, in Brecon; and running about 18 miles south-south-eastward, past Tredegar, Argoed, and Mynyddyslwyn, to the Ebbw, ¾ of a mile above Risca. Its vale is rich in minerals, and teems with mineral works.
