SELLING, a village and a parish in Faversham district, Kent. The village stands near the London, Chatham, and Dover railway, 3½ miles S E by S of Faversham; and has a station with telegraph on the railway, a post-office under Faversham, and a fair on Whit-Tuesday. The parish contains also the hamlet of Gushmore, and comprises 2, 463 acres. Real property, £5, 193. Pop., 575. Houses, 131. S. Court, Woodlands, Luton. House, Sole Street House, Owens Court, and the Vicarage are chief residences. Shottendon Hill has a triangularcamp of 2 acres, and commands a fine view. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Canterbury. Value, £357.* Patron, Lord Sondes. The church is early English, and good.
