ROWTON, a township in Christleton parish, Cheshire.; on the Chester and Crewe railway, and on the Nantwichcanal, 3¼ miles S E by E of Chester. It has a post-office under Chester. Acres, 563. Real property, £1, 495. Pop., 163. Houses, 30. R. Hall is the seat of Capt. R. Currey. R. Heath was the scene of an important battle, in 1645, between the royalists and the parliamentarians.
