POLRUAN, a village in Llanteglos-by-Fowey parish, Cornwall; at the month of the Fowey estuary, opposite Fowey. It was once a borough; it sent members to parliament in the time of Edward III.; it contains vestiges of Hall House, which was garrisoned in the civil wars of Charles I.; it contains also a stone cross and ruins of an ancient chapel; and it has a post-office under Parstation, Cornwall, and a coast-guard station. Pop.,
