PLYM (The), a river of Devon; rising in Dartmoor, at Plym-Head, 3 miles E of Sheepstor; and running about 16 miles south-westward and southward to Plymouthsound at Plymouth. It is sometimes called the Catwater; and its lower or estuarial reach is generally so called.
