PLINLIMMON, a mountain on the mutual border of Montgomery and Cardigan; 10 miles W by N of Llanidloes. It comprises three masses, which might be considered as three mountains; it forms the centre of a great mountain-group, diverging into subordinate chains; itattains an altitude of 2, 463 feet; it commands a very extensive but broken view; it sends off, from its shoulders, the rivers Severn, Wye, Rheidiol, Ystwith, and Lyffnant; and it was the camping-ground of Owen Glendower, in 1401, at the outset of his career.
