PIERCEFIELD, a seat on the S E border of Monmouth; on the river Wye, 1¼ mile N of Chepstow. Itbelonged formerly to Valentine Morris; passed to N. Wells, Esq.; belongs now to J. Russell, Esq.; containsfour pieces of tapestry which belonged to Louis X VI.; and stands in a park of remarkable beauty, laid out in the old-fashioned style, and measuring about 1½ mile inlength.
