OUGHTRINGTON, a hamlet in Lymm parish, Cheshire; on the Bridgewater canal, 5½ miles W S W of Altrincham. Oughtrington Hall was formerly the seat of T. Trafford, Esq.; is now the seat of A. F. Payne, Esq.; is a handsome stone edifice, after designs by Harrison; and commands an extensive and beautiful view.
