ORCHARD (East and West), two old castles in St. Athan parish, Glamorgan; on the river Thaw, 5 miles S by E of Cowbridge. They took their name from orchardscultivated by Flemings for Henry I.; the East Orchardone was built in 1691, by Roger Berkrols; and both arenow reduced to fragments.
