OLDFIELD, a hamlet in Dunham-Massey township, Bowdon parish, Cheshire; on the Bridgewater canal, 1 mile W of Altrincham. Pop., 169. The Ferns is the seat of N. Clegg, Esq.; and the Knowl, of B. D. Naylor, Esq. Market-gardening is carried on. There is an endowed school, a large handsome building, erected in 1759, and giving instruction to 50 children from Dunham-Massey, Bowdon, and Altrincham.
