Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for OKEMENT, or Ock (The)

OKEMENT, or Ock (The), a river in Devon; rising in two head-streams, one of them at Cranmere-pool, near the centre of Dartmoor, 3½ miles S S E of Yes Tor; unitingthese head-streams 6 or 7 miles to the N of Okehampton; and running thence about 7 miles northward to the Torridge, 2 miles N N E of Hatherleigh. Its trout, though small, are noted for excellence.
