NORTON, a village and a tything in Freshwater parish, Isle of Wight. The village stands on the coast, between the river Yar and Victoria fort, ½ a mile W of Yarmouth; is a pretty place, with villas and groups of trees; and has a post-office under Yarmouth, Isle of Wight. The tything includes the village; and extendsup the Yar and along the coast. Norton Lodge is the residence of Sir Graham E. Hamond, Bart.; Hill Lodge, of Capt. Hamond; and Marina, of Capt. Crozier. Amber has been found on the shore. .
