NORMANTON, a hamlet in Southwell parish, Notts; on the river Greet, ½ a mile N E of Southwell. It was formerly a separate parish, and had an ancient church. Real property, £1, 479. Pop., 70. Normanton Hallwas formerly the seat of the Cartwrights; is now the seat of J. Barrow, Esq.; and occupies the site of a seat of the Hunts, built in the time of Edward IV.
