NEWBOLD, a hamlet and a chapelry in Tredington parish, Worcester. The hamlet lies on the river Stourat the boundary with Warwick, near the Fosse way, 3 miles N of Shipston-on-Stour, and 7 N E by E of Campden r. station. The chapelry contains also the hamlets of Armscott and Tolton; and its post town is Tredington, under Shipston-on-Stour. Real property, £3, 514. Pop.in 1851, 425; in 1861, 498. Houses, 114. The property is much subdivided. Tolton House is the seat of the Hawkes family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Worcester. Value, £415. Patron, Jesus College, Oxford. The church is good; and there is a free school. A meeting of Quakers is held at Armscott on the first Sunday of August.
