Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for NETHERHALL

NETHERHALL, the quondam ancient moated seat of the Colt family, on the W border of Essex; near Roydon. It was taken down in 1775; but a fine old gate-way of it, with flanking tower, still remains; and a modern house, of the same name, is adjacent.
