In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Piddington like this:
PIDDINGTON, a parish, with a village, in Bicester district, Oxford; under Muswell hill, at the boundary with Bucks, 4¾ miles S E of Bicester r. station. Post-town, Brill, under Thame. Acres, 2, 322. Real property, £2, 759. Pop., 389. Houses, 86. The property is subdivided. The manor belongs to Mrs. Ricketts. The living is a p. curacy in the diocese of Oxford. Value, £300.* Patrons, the Parishioners. The church is of the 15th century, in good condition; and consists of nave, S aisle, and chancel, with a tower.
