In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Weston on the Green like this:
WESTON-ON-THE-GREEN, a parish in Bicester district, Oxford; 3 miles N by E of Islip r. station, and 4½ SW of Bicester. It has a post-office under Bicester. Acres, 2,466. Real property, £2,825. Pop., 459. Houses, 103. The manor belongs to the Hon. and Rev. F. Bertie; and the manor-house was recently rebuilt. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Oxford. Value, £230.* Patron, the Hon. and Rev. F. Bertie. The church was rebuilt about 1715.
