In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Cardigan Island like this:
CARDIGAN ISLE, an island in Cardiganshire; on the right side of the month of the river Teifi, 3¾ miles NNW of Cardigan. It measures about 40 acres; and is pastured by sheep.
Cardigan Island is now part of CEREDIGION District. Click here for graphs and data of how CEREDIGION has changed over two centuries. For statistics about Cardigan Island itself, go to Statistics.
