ORCHARDLEIGH, a parish in Frome district, Somerset; on the river Frome, 2 miles N of Frome r. station. Post-town, Frome. Acres, 715. Real property, £1, 841. Pop., 34. Houses, 9. The property belonged formerlyto the Champneys, and belongs now to W. Duckworth, Esq. Orchardleigh Park is Mr. ...
D.'s seat; and hasgrounds to the extent of nearly 800 acres, all noblywooded and highly ornamental. The old mansion of the Champneys still stands in a hollow; and the mansion of Mr. D. is a new edifice. The living is a rectory, united in 1867 with Lullington, in the diocese of Bath and Wells. value, £296.* Patron, W. Duckworth, Esq. The church is early English; and consists of nave, transept, and chancel, with porch and small tower.
