PAWLETT, a village and a parish in Bridgewater district, Somerset. The village stands on the river Parret, near the Bristol and Exeter railway, 3 miles S S W of Highbridge-Junction r. station and 4 N of Bridgewater; and has a post-office under Bridgewater, and fairs on the last Monday of Aug. and Oct. ...
The parish comprises 2, 986 acres of land, and 580 of water. Real property, £10, 438. Pop., 555. Houses, 116. The property is divided among a few. The manor belongs to Lord De Mauley. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Bath and Wells. Value, £350.* Patron, the Lord Chancellor. The church is ancient but good, and has a tower. There are a Wesleyan chapel and a national school.
