PYLLE, a village and a parish in Shepton-Mallett district, Somerset. The village stands near the Somerset and Dorset railway, 3½ miles S by W of Shepton-Mallett; and has a station with telegraph on the railway . The parish comprises 1,055 acres; and its post town is Shepton-Mallett. Real property, £1, 594. Pop., 207. Houses, 36. The manor belongs to Lord Portman. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells. Value, £181.* Patron, Lord Portman. The church is old, and consists of nave, transept, and chancel, with porch and tower. There is a Wesleyan chapel.
