In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described North Stoke like this:
STOKE (North), a parish in Keynsham district, Somerset; on the river Avon, 4½ miles NW of Bath r. station. Post town, Bristol. Acres, 778. Real property, £1,139. Pop., 160. Houses, 36. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells. Value, £200.* Patron, the Lord Chancellor. The church is ancient.
