In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Littlethorpe like this:
LITTLETHORPE, a village in Whitcliffe-with-Thorpe township, Ripon parish, W. R. Yorkshire; on the river Ure, 1¼ mile SSE of Ripon. The making of bricks and tiles is largely carried on.
Littlethorpe is now part of NORTH YORKSHIRE Unitary Authority. Click here for graphs and data of how NORTH YORKSHIRE has changed over two centuries. For statistics about Littlethorpe itself, go to Statistics.
