TARRANT-CRAWFORD, a parish in Blandford district, Dorset; 1¼ mile ENE of Spetisbury r. station, and 3¼ SSE of Blandford. Posttown, Blandford. Acres, 600. Real property, £750. Pop., 67. Houses, 15. A Cistertian nunnery was founded here in the time of Richard I.; was the burial-place of Joan, daughter of King John, and Joan, queen of Alexander II.; and was given, at the dissolution, to the Wyatts. The living is a donative in the diocese of Salisbury. Value, £50. Patron, J. S. Drax, Esq. Bishop Poore, of the 13th century, was a native.
