BISHOP-THORNTON, a township-chapelry in Ripon parish, W. R. Yorkshire; 3½ miles NW of Ripley r. station, and 5½ SW by S of Ripon. Post Town, Ripley, Yorkshire. Acres, 3,027. Real property, £4,211. Pop., 541. Houses, 106. The living is a p. curacy in the diocese of Ripon. Value, £85. Patrons, the Dean and Chapter. I here are Wesleyan and R. Catholic chapels.
