In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Abernethy like this:
Abernethy, par. and vil., Perthshire and Fifeshire, on rivulet Nethy, 8½ miles SE. of Perth by rail -- par., 9544 ac., pop. 1714; vil., pop. 906; P.O. It has a remarkable round tower 74 ft. high, probably dating from the 10th century.
Abernethy is now part of PERTH AND KINROSS Council. Click here for graphs and data of how PERTH AND KINROSS has changed over two centuries. For statistics about Abernethy itself, go to Statistics.
