In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Prestonkirk like this:
Prestonkirk, par., Haddingtonshire, on river Tyne, 5½ miles W. of Dunbar, 7058 ac., pop. 1929; P.O., T.O., called Prestonkirk or East Linton. See LINTON, EAST.
