In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Tulliallan like this:
Tulliallan, par., in detached part of Perthshire, on river Forth, 3586 ac., pop. 2207; contains Kincardine; Tulliallan Castle, seat of Lord William Osborne, is near Kincardine, and 4½ miles SE. of Alloa.
