In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Logie Pert like this:
Logie-Pert, par. and vil., Forfarshire - par., 5739 ac., pop. 995; vil., 5½ m. NW. of Montrose; P.O.; James Mill (1773-1836), historian of British India, was a native.
