In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Kilninver like this:

Kilninver and Kilmelford, par., Lorne dist., Argyllshire, 31,254 ac., pop. 405; contains Kilninver, hamlet, on S. side of Loch Feochan, and at the mouth of Glen Euchar, 8 miles S. of Oban; P.O.; in vicinity is Kilninver Lodge.
