Ballantrae, coast par. and fishing vil., SW. Ayrshire, on Stinchar river, 13 miles SW. of Girvan, 33,561 ac., pop. 1442; vil., pop. 426; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank. It is the centre of the SW. fishery district.
