In 1882-4, Frances Groome's Ordnance Gazetteer of Scotland described Kincraig like this:
Kincraig, a hamlet in Alvie parish, SE Inverness-shire, near the left bank of the Spey, with a station on the Highland railway (5¾ miles NE of Kingussie), a post and telegraph office under Kingussie, and Alvie Free church.Ord. Sur., sh. 74, 1877.
