In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Lochee like this:
Lochee, district and ry. sta., partly in Dundee par., but chiefly in Liff, Ben vie, and Invergowrie par., Forfarshire, in NW. suburbs and within the burgh of Dundee, pop. 12,370; P.O., T.O., 2 Banks.
