Moeddyn, Cardiganshire

In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Moeddyn like this:

MOYDDYN, a hundred in the S of Cardigan; bounded, on the N, by Ilar, on the E, by Pennarth, on the S, by the river Teifi, separating it from Carmarthenshire, on the W, by Troedyraur, on the N W, by Cardiganbay; containing Bettws-Bleddrws parish, thirteen other parishes, and parts of four other parishes; and cut into two divisions, lower and upper. Acres, of the l. div., 34, 898. Pop. in 1851, 8, 169. Houses, 1, 900. Pop. of the u. div., 45, 486. Pop. in 1851, 7, 112. Houses, 1, 495. Pop. of the whole in 1861, 15, 553. Houses, 3, 536.
