In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Brimstree like this:
BRIMSTREE, a hundred in Salop. It adjoins Staffordshire; and is cut into the three divisions of Bridgnorth, Burford, and Shiffnal. Acres, 62,354. Pop., 13,125. Houses, 2,646.
