In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Easton like this:
EASTON, a place associated with Roman antiquities, in Cumberland; adjacent to the Carlisle and Silloth railway, 5 miles ESE of Bowness.
Easton is now part of CUMBERLAND Unitary Authority. Click here for graphs and data of how CUMBERLAND has changed over two centuries. For statistics about Easton itself, go to Statistics.
