In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Little Hampden like this:
HAMPDEN (LITTLE), a parish in Wycombe district, Bucks; under the Chiltern hills, 3½ miles E of PrincesRisborough r. station, and 3 S by W of Wendover. Post town, Wendover, under Tring. Acres, 508. Real property, £468. Pop., 68. Houses, 15. The property is divided among a few. The living is a p. curacy, annexed to the rectory of Hartwell, in the diocese of Oxford. The church is good.
