ALLERTONSHIRE, a wapentake in N. R. Yorkshire. It contains Northallerton parish, seven other parishes, and parts of five others; and is bounded on the N by the river Tees. Acres, 43,336. Pop. in 1851, 9,201; in 1861, 9,603. Houses, 2,057.
