In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Boulmer like this:

BOULMER AND SEATON-HOUSE, a township in Long Houghton parish, Northumberland; on the coast, 5½ miles E of Alnwick. Acres, 391. Pop., 156. Houses, 27. The coast is diversified with Boulmer point and Boulmer bay; and the inhabitants are chiefly fishermen.
