In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Pontyberem like this:
PONTYBEREM, a place in the centre of Carmarthenshire; on the river Gwendraeth-fach, 5½ miles S E of Carmarthen. It has a post-office under Llanelly.
Pontyberem is now part of CARMARTHENSHIRE District. Click here for graphs and data of how CARMARTHENSHIRE has changed over two centuries. For statistics about Pontyberem itself, go to Statistics.
