In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Solfach like this:
SOLVA, or Solfach, a seaport village in Whitchurch parish, Pembroke; on a narrow creek of St. Bride's bay, 3¼ miles ESE of St. Davids. It has a post-office‡ under Haverfordwest; and is a pretty place, with romantic environs. Pop., 596.
