In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Harestock like this:
HARESTOCK, a hamlet in Whiteparish parish, Wilts; near the boundary with Hants, 7 miles SW of Salisbury. It was named from the family of Heyraz; and they were named from being keepers of the king's harriers.
Harestock is now part of WILTSHIRE Unitary Authority. Click here for graphs and data of how WILTSHIRE has changed over two centuries. For statistics about Harestock itself, go to Statistics.
