In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Wrecclesham like this:
WRECKLESHAM, a chapelry, with a village, in Farnham parish, Surrey; 1¼ mile W SW of Farnham r. station. It was constituted in 1840; and it has a post-office under Farnham. Pop., 1,271. Houses, 251. The property is much subdivided. Hops are extensively. grown. The living is a p. curacy in the diocese of Winchester. Value, £340.* Patron, the Bishop of W. The church is plain.
