In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Queenwood like this:

QUEENWOOD, a place in the W of Hants; 4 miles N W of Romsey. A socialistic establishment, called Harmony Hall, was founded here in 1842, by Robert Owen; and was succeeded by an agricultural training school.
