In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Pleasley Hill like this:
PLEASLEY-HILL, a chapelry in Mansfield parish, Notts; on the river Meden, at the boundary with Derby, and adjacent to Pleasley, 3 miles N W of Mansfield r.station. Post-town, Mansfield. Pop., about 400. The living is a p. curacy, annexed to the p. curacy of Mansfield, St. John, in the diocese of Lincoln.
