In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Perry like this:
PERRY, a hamlet in the S of Stafford; on Icknield-street and the Liverpool canal, adjacent to Warwickshire, 3½ miles N of Birmingham. It has a post-office under Birmingham.
