In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Foxt like this:
FOXT, a township in Ipstones and Checkley parishes, Stafford; 4¼ miles NNE of Cheadle. Statistics of the Ipstones part returned with the parish. Acres of the Checkley part, 393. Pop., 124. Houses, 24.
