In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Moor Hall like this:
MOOR-HALL, a place in Harefield parish, Middlesex; ½ a mile S of Harefield village. An ancient priory, a cell to Clerkenwell priory, was here; and some remains of it, including the chapel, still exist.
